Apparently it is!
2016 has been a profoundly terrible year for pretty much everyone. It’s been a great year for me, professionally. I had my first ever short story sale and my first pro short story sale, I joined SFWA, and I went to Viable Paradise, where I met writing heroes and found an incredible band of new fellow writer friends. One important lesson of VP was to treat ourselves like writing professionals. So, here we are.
These are my two award-eligible short stories of 2016:
- “Emergency Management Protocol“, which was guest editor DJ Older’s selection for Issue 36 of Fireside Fiction.
- “Untangling,” in the second issue of Farstrider.
I’m completely thrilled just to be able to list those, regardless of any actual nomination. Yes, it’s an honor just to be theoretically capable of being nominated. In all sincerity.
With luck and hard work, maybe there will be more to post next year!
(More substantive posting on my part to return after finals are done and grades are entered. In particular, I want to write several posts addressing the “profoundly terrible” part of this year and the upcoming years.)
How wonderful! Congratulations!
